ServDes.2027: Call for hosting
Dear all,
The ServDes conference has now been the leading research conference in the meeting between design and service since 2009. The 2025 conference will be held in Hyderabad, between the 6th and 9th of October. We are now opening a call for hosting the conference in 2027.
We welcome applications from institutions with a proven history of research and/or education in or related to the field of service design and a relatively active local environment to deepen understanding and practices.
The proposal
Your proposal should answer some basic questions, be around 2000 words long, to be part of the selection process:
Where: information on the hosting organisation and city (why there?) and accessibility (can delegates easily get to the conference venue?)
Who: tell us who is the organising committee (Is there the required capacity and expertise? what are the ongoing and past topic-related projects, publications or education activities?) including a documented commitment from a local research group/team and the host institution (Is there the required commitment and support?)
What: what is the proposed theme of the conference (How is it relevant to the field and practice?), any idea for its possible format and publication options beyond the proceedings, and potential social program
Why: why do you want to organize the conference (What is the interest in relationship to service design and service innovation). What is additional value of you hosting for the service design / design research community where you are?
When: when will the conference be held, and how does those dates fit with other related and relevant conferences and deadlines in 2027 (does the timing fit?)
How: information on facilities, accommodation and supporting services (conference services, transport, IT, etc.) (does the location have all the necessary facilities and resources?)
How much: costs, estimated number of participants and possible conference fee (Is it sustainable and accessible?) plans for sponsorship.
Contribution to ServDes: The future host will need to propose ideas and resources for contributing to the maintenance and development of the general conference and community (e.g., website maintenance, parallel seminars, social media, etc.).
Please consider that one of the Conference Chairs of the future host will be invited to join the ServDes Scientific Committee.

The decision for a venue will be made no later than by the end of October 15 2025.
